Great Article! I have no problem scheduling some ME time...well 9 times out of 10. Unfortunately it took some tragic circumstances to get me here - BUT, I am also at a point in my life where I cannot and will not compromise my peace of mind for anybody. Baby steps worked for me; I quit drinking alcohol and started exercising more; so that took away a boatload of stress. If I cannot meet a deadline at work, then so be it! my rationale is that if I died today, they would have someone in that chair the next day; well that and I have a great boss. ha! I also tend to turn off my cellphones/laptop/tv etc and basically 'sever all ties with the world for an entire day, it's so freeing! When Gas prices were cheaper I would power up my car and just drive until my tank was empty. I would get out, explore the area, dine, get a cheap hotel and drive home the next day - I miss those days! So I have tried to take part in local activities e.g. Volunteering at a retirement home once a month, taking part in charity races/walks, going to a shooting range or just sitting by the river close to my house. However, I am a "work in progress" when it comes to my friends - I do tend to just "get up and go" if any of them calls me to go and grab dinner or do a movie even when I feel a little bit tired. I have said "NO" 2 out of 5 times..so hopefully I can get better at this. I LOVE THIS ARTICLE! GREAT JOB!!

You ain't never lied. If you don't take time for you who will? The older I get the more selfish I become with my time.Being a single female right now has made me enforce that "me time" even more . Yes I will go to dinner, a movie, an event and the beach with me. I learned a long time ago if I sit at home waiting for the phone to ring I was going to miss a lot of life.Beside you never know who you are going to run into along the way.

I SO TOTALLY AGREE WITH THE ABOVE COMMENTS. I ENJOY A LOT A ME TIME, PARTLY BECAUSE AM A SINGLE PERSON AND A LONER BY NATURE. I CAN PRACTICALLY DO ANYTHING BY MYSELF. A COMPANY OR TWO WOULD HURT, BUT IF THERE IS NON, OH WELL, MY LIFE DOES GO ON.

I have made taking time off for "ME" a priority. It could be as simple as laying in bed and watching my favorite movies on DVD's to getting a facial, manicure etc. great article.

I have finally decided to do something just for me. I had a wonderful and I mean wonderful massage today. I think that I will make this a monthly pampering.

I really liked this article, I am going to try to set two hours aside for myself. If I can get into the habit of doing that it will become easier.
