Nip Tuck this, Nip tuck that
Comments

I like to wear cosmetics and they make me feel good. However, I think it is sad that in today's society we believe we need to use products to be worth anything, especially to the opposite sex. Sometimes I long to feel ok with no cosmetcis on and hairy legs lol!
19th of Oct, 2006
Good observation there. What has come around is that we have failed to realise how beautiful we are on the inside, and are now convincing others that it has much to do with the outside. Any, there, we go wrong.
19th of Oct, 2006
hey, we all have something about ourselves that we would like to change! but going as far as to actually have surgery is another thing entirely. and even if i was brave enough to do it, who's to say that it would make me a happier person?
19th of Oct, 2006
beauty has so far gone from being skin deep to being superficial on the outside.....and then again...does it change how people look at us...yes....someone should love you for who you are not WHAT you look like....
21st of Oct, 2006
GREAT ARTICLE, VERY INTERESTING!!
21st of Oct, 2006
I agree with lizzy2005 and fearlesscrus..!!!
21st of Oct, 2006
Hey whatever works-works!
21st of Oct, 2006
I love how God made me... sure there are things I would change--but I was made this way for a reason so why change??
21st of Oct, 2006
I have had plastic surgery to fix my tummy after childbirth. It was something I did for me and it did make me feel better about myself. Don't knock it until you try it. I suspect the millions and millions of us who were lucky enough to be able to afford these procedures must be feeling pretty good about the results. If I found something else that I need to fix, and if I thought it would make ME feel better about ME, then I would do it again without worrying about what EVERYONE ELSE THINKS. We all should do what makes us feel good.
21st of Oct, 2006
I have thought about this for a while now.. Well ok after I seen a program with movie stars without make up.. I was shocked .. Made me go look in the mirror and want to call the tv people.. make up today is put on like a mask to hide the real person.. fake tits .. fake ass fake lips.. oh my god now they came out with make that you never take off.. what is it comming to.. and we can leave it all up to the tv to show us what life would be like if you had money,... I think i stick to a lil base and lipstick .. and i am sure the men are like stand 5 feet from me when i am wearing white lol...
22nd of Oct, 2006
I've had two children and I would love to have a nip and tuck!
22nd of Oct, 2006
Sometimes we should just be happy with what we are. I know I'm not he best looking guy around but if someone can not accept me for what I am then I dont need them in my life.
22nd of Oct, 2006
pretty soon all these girls are gonna be walking barbies and dolls
23rd of Oct, 2006
I agree. Those who are for me will love me as well inside out (not the other way around). To bring the point back home, if we work on cultivating our inside and we will be amazed at how if improves our outside.
23rd of Oct, 2006
I think this should be left to people that medically has been said they cannot survive without it.
23rd of Oct, 2006
Remember...Barbie is plastic, and plastic brakes! Fix what's inside and the rest shall follow!
23rd of Oct, 2006
All this obsession with one "standard" of beauty is so ridiculous. People come in all shapes, sizes, colors and varieties. It's part of what makes each of us unique.
Why go around trying to look like everyone else? A world full of Barbie dolls would be sooooo boring!
23rd of Oct, 2006
If plastic surgery makes you feel good about yourself then go for it, you really have to do it for 'you' and no-one else. It's ashame society makes us feel we have to look perfect.
24th of Oct, 2006
Have to agree with Urmy...if you feel you need it and it makes you feel better about you then DO it...
BUT
If the inside is still unhappy...doesn't matter HOW the outside looks, cuz the inside will still be unhappy.
24th of Oct, 2006
Plastic surgery should be illegal, learn to live with what you look like and get over it.
24th of Oct, 2006
personally i,m not attracted to fake breasts but hey if it makes a woman feel better about herself then that's her thing ,some forms of plastic surgery are helpful like to fix a crooked nose or tighten up a stomache ravaged by child birth
i think there is such a demand for cosmetic surgery because society mainly television and magazines promote youthful tight bodies and faces so people assume that is how one must look to be beautiful , but remember beauty is only skin deep ...
24th of Oct, 2006
I think a lot of folks making these comments are perpetrating a fraud. If someone offered a free makeover a la extreme makeover, some of you would jump at that. If people chose to do it, thats there business! I did it and I am so glad that I did. Call us a Barbie or plastic or whatever...I don't care, but I am maintaining my figure and I am in my 40's and proud that I was able to fix it!
24th of Oct, 2006
Be natural!
24th of Oct, 2006
I always remember what a Dr. told me when my mother wanted me to have gastric bypass surgery at 16 when i weighed only 170 lbs. He said sweetie I'm not goin to do it. Remember who you are on the inside and let others see of your heart and soul, lasts so much longer than whats on the outside. Cultivate your insides and you will be much happier with who you are and what you look like. I always think of that when someone does drastic surgery to change the looks. They are not happy with who they are. Minor things I dont think much about.
25th of Oct, 2006
Great article, Leticia.
How about a little more exercise with sculpting, eating nutriously and drinking plenty water to keep young. It is a lot more safe than all the chemicals and surgeries.
25th of Oct, 2006
i guess whatever makes people happy.
25th of Oct, 2006
wish i had the money to do some sculpting to myself.....lol
25th of Oct, 2006
If people want to do surgery to improve them selves that up to them, but do it for yourself n not for others. We are all beautiful
25th of Oct, 2006
natural is what God gave us...let us use it...
26th of Oct, 2006
I really think that any plastic surgery that is not health related is silly. You should really be proud of who you are... not just what you look like. Substance is more important to me.
26th of Oct, 2006
Whatever make someone happy they should do it.....
27th of Oct, 2006
The media often influences our ideas ane perceptions..from a business point of view---a "need" was found and "services" are offered to fill it..its just the way america and much of the world accepts it..and goes along with it..even if it isnt "natural"...but many times it is "healthy"--in more ways than one!!
27th of Oct, 2006
I agree with Xina03 because if someone wants plastic surgery they are going to get it whether they think they are beautiful or not. A lot of people are taught to believe that certain looks are pretty are other ones are ugly,so lots wants to confrom to that look and won't be happy until they do.
27th of Oct, 2006
cosmetics, plastic surgery all are fine but what about the side effects. There are numerous cases that went wrong for eg. Tara (Hollywood actress).
27th of Oct, 2006
I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW FROM HOW MANY PEOPLE ON THE SITE WOULD HAVE PLASTIC SURGERY
28th of Oct, 2006
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder to each.
28th of Oct, 2006
IF OUR GOVERNMENT OR THE FDA WOULD MAKE 'HGH' OR SIMILAR SYNTHETICS THAT WOULD INCEREASE OUR BODIES METABOLISM(which dramatically decreases the more a person ages)WIDELY AVAILABLE AND INEXPENSIVE....WELL-IT WOULD REALLY CUT INTO THE 'NIPPING AND TUCKING' COSMETIC SURGERY DEPARTMENT!!!!!
29th of Oct, 2006
Hum...VERY INTERESTING!! More to come in details about me in my personal idea of plastic surgery...
29th of Oct, 2006
if it makes you feel better about yourself go for it. I would just advise you to do it for yourself not somebody else.
29th of Oct, 2006
I think a little plastic surgery to help someone feel better about themselves is not a big deal. Tummy tucks and the like. Face altering surgeries no way!! Remember Jennifer Grey?? Michael Jackson...forget about it. I'll take natural beauty anyday.
30th of Oct, 2006
The women I've known who had nose jobs were happy with them. Those who've had boob jobs weren't as happy as they thought they'd be, and were ashamed of their vanity. The women I've known who had facelifts said they always felt a bit of discomfort and tugging in the face and head afterward, and advised against ever having that done. It's a tough call. Everyone seems to be doing it now, and if it's done well you can't tell it's been done--the person just looks more sparkly and rested. The problem is that it could still *feel* bad and we can't see that. Also, it seems there's a high liklihood that the surgery could go really wrong. See badplasticsurgery.com for examples. That stuff really gives me pause. Perhaps aging gracefully and embracing the wrinkles is a safer and healther way to go.
31st of Oct, 2006
if it works for you then work it...that is my honest opinion...
31st of Oct, 2006
I suppose that an individual has the right to make any modifications to oneself as deemed necessary...as long as the procedure is safe.I personally enjoy a natural woman.

Naturelle is Best....Just my opinion

I myself had plastic surgery..I know what your thinking with the name candy40dd "we know".. Actually I had a breast reduction, I had to make them smaller due to major back pain “it runs in the family”.. In after having children in the future, I’m planning on getting them perky & also having a tummy tuck.!! I feel it was okay to make them smaller due to the pleasure it brings me to have the weight off my back., So if another person wants to add more or fix a few things here in there why not?? We worry way to much about others, lets be real.. We drive different cars, live in different homes & neighborhoods due to “Our” likings.. So, as long as YOUR happy in your doing it for YOU, go for it...P.S. Please don’t go to a Surgeon because he/she is cheaper than the others. It’s your body, this is dangers stuff.. Living here in South Fla, I’ve seen lots of bad cases BE CAREFUL..
1st of Nov, 2006
It's all about what we see on TV and the mags. We are told all the time what the "pretty" people look like.
2nd of Nov, 2006
Would you have plastic surgery for non medical reasons if it was free and nobody would ever know? I don't need to know your answer, this is just something for you to think about.
3rd of Nov, 2006
what's good for you is not always good to you people need ro realize that beauty is within what's on the outside does not necessarily the key to what qualites you posess on the inside. I believe that everyone is beautiful so why change yourself to make yourself look younger if god wanted everyone to look like a barbie or ken doll he would have created us that way
3rd of Nov, 2006
I think men are the outcome of most of the reasons a woman gets a surgery....its all to make them happy! At least most of the time.... I think we live in a society where we need to be portrayed in a certain way and if we are not, then we are either looked passed or looked down upon.
4th of Nov, 2006
I hope the woman who said she had a tummy tuck for herself realises part of the reason she did it was the pressure from society to look perfect and have a washboard stomach. If we didn't see airbrushed pictures of wowen in magazines ona daily basis I don't think surgery might be so important!
4th of Nov, 2006
WOW... i have thought of plastic surgery but thats because i want a better body and excerise aint helping. society pressures us to look a certain way and that women are not women unless they have the body type that insecure men have designed for us. what stops me from getting surgery is first and forstmost, if u cant love me the way i am, then move over so someone else can. the next thing.. surgery is never an exact science and eventually life does take over and what bought u to the knife b4 will be there again, it just prolongs the inevitable.
surgery should only be used to save lives, not make them look superficially better. its really not worth it in the long run.
5th of Nov, 2006
I personally dont know any body who actually has had any plastic surgery.
5th of Nov, 2006
I wonder if what would happen if the images we see every day in advertising changed to what 98% of people look like. Think that there would be a need for plastic surgery?
5th of Nov, 2006
Leticia,
Thank you for your post. This nip tuck stuff has gotten way outta control. Like you said, if God intended for anyone to have something, we would have been born with it! Men and women should love one another "as is." If it can't be enhanced or lost "naturally" then, hey you have two choices, take it or leave it. Sadly enough, many will not want to take people as they are.
6th of Nov, 2006
Great article....people tend to forget that beauty is in the inside.
6th of Nov, 2006
its worthy while it lasts, but what happens afterwards? Would we possibly turn into MJ? Think about it, i'd rather remain the way i am.
6th of Nov, 2006
Love yourself first. We can all improve on what we have in other ways without all the nip and tuck.
6th of Nov, 2006
i don't understand this mania to operate yourself just to look better!
it's simply sick!
god bless the naturals!
7th of Nov, 2006
If you have the money, go for it!!
7th of Nov, 2006
Plastic surgery is great when you can afford it.
8th of Nov, 2006
Being self-confident is whussup. Therefore, if a woman/man believes that indulging in a modification of her/his body part(s) will promote self-conidence, then I say "Just do it!"!!
9th of Nov, 2006
You can even have long eyelashes permanently sewn into your eyelids...hear no evil, speak no evil...blink--and you too can be beautiful--you just gotta pay for it!!
9th of Nov, 2006
i think if we all had the money to afford it, we all would have a nip and a tuck somewhere.
9th of Nov, 2006
I say fix it before it breaks baby... To bad alot of people don't understand the meaning of getting plastic surgery.. I had 40DD's in 04, i had surgery in made them smaller. U think i hated them? That's crazy, their natural 40DD BOOBS)The weight was way tooo much for my back.. So, don't tell me i hate myself.. I just Love MYSELF enough to SPEND any amount of money for comfort!! It only paper, im here to spend it!!
9th of Nov, 2006
No one knew I had a tummy tuck unless I told them. My scar is the same one I had my c-section on. I think many of you should do the research I did before passing judgement. No amount of working out that you do will eliminate all the excess skin if you are petite like me and has had 2 children. I did the research, found a Board Certified plastic surgeon, and decided that this was best for me. I did it for ME. It made me feel better about ME. Ask most women who have had more than one child if they would do it to repair their tummy and most would say yes. I say do the research first, and make the best decision you can for YOU. Only you know what is best for you, and whatever you decide, don't worry about what anyone else has to say about it. You'll feel good and that's all that matters :)
11th of Nov, 2006
if it makes you happy
12th of Nov, 2006
I wonder what people did before all these products and operartions were around. They still found each other attractive.
14th of Nov, 2006
We're all critical about our bodies (some moreso than others). If visual wasn't such a thing with us humans, they'd be no profit in this endeavor. My opinion...do what makes you feel right..as long as you don't hurt others.
14th of Nov, 2006
Wow what a world, everything from tummy tucks to penis implants...sheesh.
15th of Nov, 2006
I still say just be yourself. Dont change who you are because you may not even like who you become.
16th of Nov, 2006
It's what's inside that counts, the outside is like wrapping paper just covering the present.
17th of Nov, 2006
im sure things will catch up with them in the long run.
17th of Nov, 2006
Perhaps plastic surgery is needed within oneself.
17th of Nov, 2006
No plastic for me, saw an aquaintance the other day, obviously has had botox. She was naturally beautiful, now her cheek bones look like they are trying to touch her forehead. ICK!
18th of Nov, 2006
We have all been so brainwashed in to believing we are not worth anything unless we are covered in cosmetics.
19th of Nov, 2006
Amen, sistah! I agree with every word of your article!
20th of Nov, 2006
If it makes YOU happy, go for it....
20th of Nov, 2006
good article..some good points brought to attention....
21st of Nov, 2006
Very good article.Something to think about when you see young kids wanting and having cometic surgery and not letting their bodies develop.
21st of Nov, 2006
If plastic surgery is what is going to make that person feel mor confident then I am all for it, but looks only last so long in a relationship!
22nd of Nov, 2006
live and let live i say
22nd of Nov, 2006
I wish I could just be me and not be judged on what I look like and wear!
22nd of Nov, 2006
Leticia,
Your vision is scary!! Nip tuck?? NEVER
Thanks for the article though
23rd of Nov, 2006
I agree with Inducive... very well stated.
24th of Nov, 2006
I THINK PEOPLE SHOULD BE HAPPY WITH WHAT GOD GAVE THEM, THERE ARE MANY PEOPLE WHO HAVE THINGS DONE TO THEMSELVES, AND ARE THOUSAND TIMES UNHAPPIER THEN THEY WERE TO BEGIN WITH.
26th of Nov, 2006
I say fix it before you beak it.... Your body, your money, your choice..
26th of Nov, 2006
You mean there is not a procedure for the back?
27th of Nov, 2006
what about the calf muscles too!!??
28th of Nov, 2006
All I say is...do what you have to do to make yourself happy, but don\'t go overboard with it.
1st of Dec, 2006
Interesting article. I can relate to some of the things that were described. However, I have to say that I have met some 80 year old women who because of plastic surgery, look to be about 50 years old. Go figure.
2nd of Dec, 2006
I think it has been insane to think that just surgery is going to make one ok and accepted to others. Many woman are buying into this. I don't think this is what the Women's Movement had in mind. We must accept ourselves and our accomplishes, not the approval of others, who only believe in fantasies.
2nd of Dec, 2006
I agree with Kara...
3rd of Dec, 2006
I think the media place to much emphasis and pressure on women to achieve a certain look.
I feel very worried for the younger generation because they will want "buy in" to this perfection. We have shows such as next top model and extreme make over - that are very much glamourising the way women should look.
In a subliminal way - shows such as this and can make women feel inadequate.
Now the latest media hype for women are that they are supposed to be a size 0. Which is totally laughable and yet we have stars such as that silly woman - victoria beckham, who has had 3 children - and yet is a size 0.
I could go on and on - I am sure you guys get the general gist.
I just want to know when it will all stop and when will women make a stand for themselves and say no! we are not going to be fooled into this anymore.
I hasten to add - I don't really see too many men stressing themselves too much to achieve great perfection in their looks, maybe some women should take a leaf outta their books.
4th of Dec, 2006
I say go for it... If it makes you happy, why worry about someone else comment matter? Unless your doing it for the wrong reasons...
5th of Dec, 2006
Beauty is still in the eye of the beholder. Taking care of once health is even more important then how many chemical one uses on his or her body. I for once do not buy into the media crap lol, no wonder am on a dating site.
6th of Dec, 2006
Cosmetic surgery is not for everyone.Too many teens are rushing to get it done and not let their bodies develope.
8th of Dec, 2006
Natural is always the best. Unless there is a glaring flaw, most women spend too much time, energy and money to improve their outselves instead of working on the inner self. Just one man's thought.
12th of Dec, 2006
Vanity is the devil's playground.
13th of Dec, 2006
I believe in the inside beauty and not outside. Will the surgery change who you realy are?
13th of Dec, 2006
...I agree with "K-bea" from december 5th!!
14th of Dec, 2006
Hey justknowingu - where did you say u can get them false eyelashes sewn on??
lol!!
15th of Dec, 2006
I still say that people need to be confident in what they are and there will be little or no need for this type of surgery
17th of Dec, 2006
The only surgery would be to get rid of bags under my eyes, only if they were really bad. Otherwise, what is so bad about aging with grace. Advertisers want us to feel bad, so that they can make money off our insecurities.
19th of Dec, 2006
I totally agree with justbelieve's comments...
20th of Dec, 2006
People need to just learn to love themselves and stop tyring to reach some impossible standard of beauty.
It's who you are on the inside that counts.
5th of Jan, 2007
What happened to beauty from the inside? People ought to see that what's out there simply won't last. Today's hot bod will be an old fat person in 10 years. Think about it Arnold Schwarzennegar would not even be able to qualify for a modern bodybuilding contest. Appreciate what you have inside people.
31st of Jan, 2007
I agree with what most here are saying,be natural sometimes
2nd of Feb, 2007
we will never be happy with our looks.
8th of Feb, 2007
I WILL SAY THIS AGAIN AFTER ALL THE JUDGEMENTAL COMMENTS...MY BODY, MY CHOICE! MAYBE ITS NOT FOR SOME OF YOU BUT WAS THE RIGHT CHOICE FOR ME :)
1st of May, 2007
im wondering if people are still looking into this as much after reading this.
I like to wear cosmetics and they make me feel good. However, I think it is sad that in today's society we believe we need to use products to be worth anything, especially to the opposite sex. Sometimes I long to feel ok with no cosmetcis on and hairy legs lol!
